Tagged

I've been tagged by hairyshoefairy. How convenient, since it feels like it's been ages since anything was all about me.

What do you like most about where you live?

This is actually a hard one for me, since I feel like I just got here. I'm sure my relationship with the place will evolve over time. So far I like how private everyplace feels because even if you are only a dozen yards from a superhighway, there are a billion trees between you and it... so it feels far far away. I like how people here say "God Bless" instead of "bye". I like it that I'm close to everything I could ever want to get to... if I can just figure out how to get there.

Is there anything strange about where you live?

Who came up with these roads? Anybody here ever been told that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line? A person like me (who's already disoriented with the lack of mountain range and overabundance of large trees) is so prone to get lost even without squiggley roads.

What's one of your all time favorite music albums and why?

One of many...
Klea Blackhurst - Everything the Traffic Will Allow I saw her do this 1 woman show about Ethel Merman when she came to SLC because my roommate Afton was attending her masterclass and raved about it (& went with me to see the show)... the woman was like watching fire. My eyes and ears were all-consumed and there was major existential suture going on. Since that evening I'm a Klea fan and a Merman fan.... and I love belting Sam & Delilah (#10) at the top of my lungs in the car.

Did you have a passion for something as a kid that you still have now? (If not what is one of your passions now?)

There's lots of things I've always loved... old movies, Bronte novels, movie musicals, Audrey Hepburn, but I'm going to go with Fairy Tales. Real folklore, complex psychological archetype stuff. I used to hunt for "new" old ones in libraries as a kid - especially the beautifully illustrated versions. I remember discovering this, this, this, and most recently this.

What do you like most about having a blog?

I like feeling like what I have to say or what I think actually matters (if only a little bit). There have (unfortunately, I guess) been plenty of days when my blog was the only thing that made me feel that way.

I don't tag people, but if anyone wants to pretend I tagged them, I'd love to hear what your responses are.

I'm glad I could give you a little more you-time. Totally understand the pressure to take more pics for the grandparents. We're in the same boat. I hope everything is going well and Sir Oliver is feeling better.
