No, I mean my first recipe that is really mine. I signed up to bring a fruit-salad to an enrichment meeting tonight. (We had a little murder-mystery dinner, pretty fun stuff). But as I searched for a fruit-salad recipe, nothing was striking my fancy. I didn't want to do anything with grapes or marshmallows or pudding....so I invented my own. I think it went over pretty well. The secret appeared to be to make a fruit salad with only the fruits that usually disappear first in a normal fruit salad....
1/2 a Honeydew melon, I attempted to ball it, but I apparently lack the touch, so it was honeydew chunks.
1 fresh pineapple, cored, peeled, and chopped
About 18 strawberries, chopped
2 little cartons of blueberries
3 mangoes, chopped (yeah, that's where that mango came from)
(I meant to add kiwi, but forgot to buy it)
Sauce:
1/3 cup fresh lime juice
2 TBSP sugar
1 TSP cinnamon
1 TSP fresh ginger, grated
(was tempted to add lime zest, but chickened out)
Toss and serve. I garnished the bowl with lime slices. So darn fancy. But I forgot to take a picture, and almost all my salad got eaten, so if I took a picture now it would be of the dregs.
I'm beginning to think I could handle inventing non-baking recipes.... Just give me time to have a disaster in the kitchen and I'll be back to the humbler version of myself.

Congrats on the success. Good call on the first fruits to disappear. I'll have to try that out--yum!
Mmmm! Really good stuff salad! I love all that stuff. Sounds awesome. I'm a honey dew chunker, too. I don't even own a melon baller and like the bigger pieces anyway.
It sounds like you've got another signature dish to bring to all the BBQs in the quad this summer :) I'm sorry I missed out on it last night!!
Sounds good, I think I will try that!
