Yeah, sorry for the absentee-ism of late.
You know how summer can be.
My excuse: recovery from my week away mixed with getting ready for a trip here:
(That would be Quebec).
12-14 hour drive with two small boys and all their gear in our little sedan.....I'm a bit frightened.
But I'm hoping for a lovely time once we're there.
And tips are welcome. For long car rides, or things to catch in the great French Canadian metropolis.

I've never been to Quebec, so I can't be of much help there. I am on the end of a three month road trip with a two year old though.
Speaking candidly...If you have never given Sir O Benadryl before, I would try and see if it makes him crazy or sleepy. If it makes him sleepy, it would be nice to have it as an option other than throwing him out the window if things get maddening.
I collected several small boxes and bags and put two or three small toys in each thing. Hers were my little ponies, fisher price animals, cell phone, hair brush. She would get one at a time, so that there was always something different.
Other ideas:
A few inexpensive new toys to pull out at just the right time
Snacks that he loves but doesn't always get
A large container of wipes readily available
Plastic grocery bags for trash, diapers, etc.
A portable DVD player (borrow if you don't own one) and a few favorite DVDs (LIFESAVER!)
Pacifiers, blankets, other comfort items
Any baby meds that you might possibly need. They are always hard to find and more expensive when you don't have them and need them.
Things to keep mom happy (Motrin, chocolate, and Diet Coke are my faves)
If he's going crazy, stop and make him run until he's exhausted. It's well worth the extra time.
Have fun!
one thing I tried on my recent trip (besides the blessed portable DVD player) was the magnetic letters with something metal- like a cookie sheet or, if you want it to be smaller, a round cake pan. Just another small activity.
GOOD LUCK! Oh man, you are going to need it.
Don't forget paper towels (or real towels) and wet wipes incase someone throws up.
dang, em, i'm excited for you. let us know how it goes (i'm sure you will).
happy father's day, mr renn.
Quebec is the only place in Canada that i've been. It was in the winter and I didn't have kids so it was relaxing. It's kind of messy but my kids like playing with piping wire and band aids.
Oh, I am so jealous! What a fun trip! I think GM has some great ideas. Good luck!!
Oops, that was me above. I clicked the button before I was ready on accident.
I'm jealous! I've never been to Canada. Someday we MUST go though because we've got a daughter named for a Canadian island - Sable.
Looks gorgeous!
I however am NOT jealous of that car trip. Frankly, it sounds awful. I'd have a portable DVD player ready and available! LOTS of snacks. Books galore. Fun kid music. Surprises to unwrap.
Good luck!
