Dangling Carrots

It took me almost 3 hours to get to work this morning. Count 'em 1, 2, 3. There was almost a foot of snowon the freeway in places. It was insane, unsafe, inhumane, and unreasonable. The worst part? This particular storm barely hit anyplace within a 20 mile radius of my work, so all the lucky people who live a reasonable distance from work got here just fine. I left home an hour+ earlier than any of them and got to work an hour later than any of them... which irritates me to no end. I have to use up an hour of my paid leave even though I left home so early in an attempt to get to work on time.

If the storm had hit down here and made everybody late then they would have thrown out clock-in times and nobody would have been late. But because I am the loser with the already ridiculous commute, I stand alone and feel rather penalized. I'm blaming it on my hormones, but I can't help feeling ever so slightly bitter this morning. Wouldn't a 3 hour commute in a blizzard make even a non-pregnant person bitter?

And adding insult to injury, the sun is coming out. Whose idea was it to have a short and furious storm and have it only last through morning rush hours? Oh what a world, what a world.

That sucks! Do't you hate feeling like the only one really affected?! Last Feb. we had a HUGE snow storm (schools were closed, etc.) in the town I lived in 2 hours north of SLC. I worked for a chain store and had to go to work even though no one came. The owners lived in SLC where it was warm and sunny. They didn't even get rain! They thought we were lying when we told them how much snow we got so they wouldn't let us close. It was ridiculus. Life is so unfair sometimes.
