"Where should I live"

First note: This is Mr Renn not mistaken for Em because she is still on break.
I've been thinking quite a bit as of late of where in the world I want to raise my family when I am done with school. I've always had some long term goal like when I was a young man, I just had to make it on a mission, and that was as far as I looked. And then when I got home I was at a loss for a short few months, and then decided I wanted to finish school. Then it was to get married, to get into dental school...and now, not sure what my next goal will be. I know I will finish school and then what. Do I want to try to specialize (i.e. orthodontist, pediatric, periodontist, endo?) or do I want to just start my practice? Well I only have two years to decide, so I guess thats a little bit of time, but I think time sure flies when your having fun. (aside: my old dentist says, "or if your a frog...time is sure fun when your having flies"). So I think one of the most difficult things of being a dentist is deciding where to live, because you can basically live anywhere there are people with jobs. I figure those of you who browse by this blog from time to time live all over the country and probably live in some really beautiful areas. Have you ever gone to findyourspot.com? It is kind of a fun site that asks you 50 or so questions and then matches you with your top 20 or so areas to live. So where would be a nice place to live, work, raise my family, and retire? Please feel free to comment, and possibly give me reasons why I should choose those places.

I'll tell you where to live if you can tell me where to live. Sorry I'm not much help, but that's to be expected.

We filled it out for you and the number ONE choice was Springville, Utah!!!! So there you have it!

I've been pulling for you all to move to Eastern Washington- it's WAY more affordable than Seattle, and I keep telling Em, my dentist is looking for a partner and ultimately someone to pass his practice on to. It's in a fancy new building he just has built too!

Come on! It's great out here!

Hi, I am an old friend of Em's. I love reading your blog. I am a big fan... My husband's job brought us to the Bay Area and it's stinking expensive, but wonderful. I love it here. Most job oppertunities in his field are here. It is a good place for our family. We LOVE the beach and the area has tons of fun places and neat things to do. And I love the city. Here are a few Q's you might ask yourself. Do you want to be close to family? Do you like being near lakes, mountains , the beach, a big city? Then after you answer those questions and others, go with teh cheapest place you can find... just kidding...well, sort of. Good luck!

Springville!? So, you're going to live with Em's grandmother? Speaking of Warren, I took the FindYourSpot test and one of my top suggested spots was Fort Collins. Whadda think, Warren?

You know, it's good when you take the test and the town you live in (and all the towns nearby) come up as the right one for you!

Charleston, South Carolina. It was voted friendliest city in the US. It is rich with history. There are great places to visit and all sorts of cool things to see. You get the beach and the prices aren't crazy like the west coast.

You should live by me, of course!! Though I'm not really sure where that will be yet, either. :)

Tough call indeed! I know we agonized over that decision. The good news is, when the time comes, you'll know the right place for you.

Thank you for your ideas. Sorry for the delay in responding, we'll hope to have some of my thoughts up shortly...after I get through a few exams.

With Med school Match right around the corner we just went through this in deciding where we wanted to be for the next bit of our lives. Go to Atlanta. Go to realtor.com type in lilburn, GA and check out the houses there. It's my new favorite hobby. Knight, Camp Creek, and Mt Park are the phenomenal elem schools so look for the houses in those neighbor hoods. seriously. it's a "I can live in that house for that and have good schools?! Sign me up!" Hopefully we'll match there and you guys can come join us down there.

Go to Alaska. I hear there's good fishing there.
Love, Josh

Ha ha, he didn't really say that, but that's where he wants us to move. No thank you, too cold. Good luck, we will probably be here in Kansas City for another 9 years if you'd like to join us! I actually really like it.

Mr Renn Here again,
Thank you for those who commented. I personally would like to live in any one of those places. I love the adventure. I guess the only second thought is about sir O. How he will do in school, in the church, and who his friends will be...I think it might have something to do with where we end up living.
