Wanting to be festive despite our home-body-ness, we broke out the graham crackers and faux-gingerbread-ed. Mr Renn made a seriously lovely train, appreciated by all who see it. 
Which isn't many people, considering almost all of our neighbor friends are gone for Christmas. I am quite naturally jealous, but I'm trying to be brave about my first Christmas away, and create some new family traditions and try my hand at making Christmas magical. Boy howdy, there is nothing to make you appreciate your mother and grandmothers like trying to recreate their Christmas magic. (Um, especially when 8+ months pregnant)Luckily Sir O is still at an age where anything out of the ordinary is magical (and some ordinary things too, I suspect). That makes it easier, plus the part where he still has no expectations. I have very little time left with that luxury. And even less time left with the luxury of not taking care of two (three?) needy boys. Heaven help me.

This is the second Christmas we have spent away from family so I know the feeling of missing out on everything and having to do your own thing. It does get easier, and for me at least, I have enjoyed being away this year. Good luck with everything that the new year is bring to you. 2 little boys is so much fun.

HOLY SWEET TRAIN!!!! I think I might trade in my gingerbread kit for some graham crackers, or maybe I could trade something in for Renn's patience and skill. Where's the finished graham house?
I love the train. That is awesome. I had a couple of Christmases away from Utah. The first one was really hard. But we got a lot of packages in the mail and it was kind of fun to get them each day leading up to Christmas. Then we went to Utah for the next couple of Christmases but then we actually just wanted to have our own Christmas and wake up at our own house so we went to Thanksgiving instead the last year that we lived in GA, because I hadn't had Thanksgiving with my family for four years and I really missed it. Anyway...hopefully you guys will have fun anyway. Merry Christmas!
Woah!! That train rocks! Go Mr. Renn. We're staying in today, too, I think. I don't want to get stuck in the last minute Christmas madness. Good luck with Christmas on your own this year. We've done it the last few years and have actually come to prefer it - at least until Christmas morning is over. Then it's nice to visit others. At least you don't have to haul around presents this year. Definitely a plus.
Wow! That is some impressive ginger decor! I helped some little kids make graham cracker houses yesterday, and one little guy strapped a chocolate tin man to the roof with Twizzler pull n' peel strings, and another kid stuck the candy canes up his nose. I'm glad to see that your session turned out much better, and cleaner.
Oh my heck that train is so dang cute!! Kason would love it. I bet Oliver had so much fun with that. We bought our Gingerbread house but still haven't found the time to make it!! We sent our your guys' stuff yesterday so you probably won't be getting it until after Christmas, but be expecting it. Oliver is getting so big and so dang cute. Tell Renn and Oliver Hi for us and We love and miss you guys lots!
It must be in the family to have skills like that. I mean man you all can pretty much make anything can't you? Good job Mr. Renn. Don't you just love making gingerbread houses/trains for the holidays? We try to do it every year too. Good luck on spending your first year away from family. You are the best at making trains... cakes, gingerbread? Seriously! This is my very first Christmas away as well. Too bad you arent our neighbors still... we could try and get creative together ha ha.
