I have a dilemma.
Sir O keeps staying up later and later.
But you see, he's looking at books.
And I was the child who snuck flashlights into bed so I could read after the lights were out...
So how am I supposed to be firm about going to bed instead of reading Jemima Puddleduck?

We usually put Peanut down around 8. She doesn't actually go to sleep until sometime around 10. Usually she's just drawing on her magnadoodle or reading books and as long as she stays in her room we don't really see it as a problem, especially because she usually sleeps until 9 or 10 the next morning. I think she uses the alone time to wind down and NYDD and I still have grown-up time together after she's in her room. I think if she were coming out of her room or waking up early and cranky it would be a bigger issue but really the way things are here it works for us. I'm also happy she falls asleep reading because I used to, too, and sometimes still do. Just my $0.02.
So cute! Youre such a good mommy! I guess maybe as long as hes whinding down and in bed its ok. Love you.
unlike the h.s.f., this isn't even worth $0.02 (what do i know about raising offspring?), but i'd encourage cultivating the reading over the bedtime. unless it's something that needs to be imprinted at an early age or else it's lost forever, sleeping schedules are pretty malleable. but supporting an interest in reading is pretty dang awesome.
How cute. I used to do that when I was little. And Mikenna loves reading too but hasn't done this yet. She just destroys her room during naps if she decides not to sleep. But at night she always goes down good.
