Seasonality

Is anyone else in panic-mode getting ready for holiday madness?
I just about can't blink without missing something I needed to have gotten done already.
(And I finished my Christmas shopping two months ago - so that's not it...)

Luckily Marta reminded me it was St. Nicholas day today. That's a tradition I'd been meaning to start with our family. And this was the year! Sir O got to choose which shoes would represent each family member, (hence his rainboots, more loot capacity) and we set them outside our front door before he went to bed. (Now if I can just remember St. Lucia day on the 13th!) Anyone have other holidays/traditions they love?
St. Nicholas Day

I think if I can just shake this super-sized cold&cough of death that has taken over my body I just might be able to make it!

I have decided that life before Sir O must have been terribly boring. He is, without a doubt, the life of our party. Every day. I am a fan. (Though I think the neighbors might appreciate it if he toned it down a notch, or twelve.) And in case you are wondering what "necklaces" he's talking about.... that's his interpretation of my saying "St. Nicholas will put treats in the shoes"

I love the St. Nicholas tradition. One of my good friends' mom is German and he grew up doing it and now that he's married his little family does it, too.

em, you'r awesome. i heard about st. nicholas day on the writer's almanac podcast yesterday, and i think it's pretty cool that you're doing it with your family.

my Christmas tradition is my yearly party, where we make homemade egg nog and watch (and sing along with) "the muppet's Christmas carol." not quite as cultural as yours, but still a heck of a lot of fun.

Oliver is pretty cute!
Mike and I agree - life before kids had to of been pretty dull... Blake is the life of the party around here, especially during the holidays.
We do St. Nicholas day too. It's a great tradition!

How fun! I love it. You are such a good mom. Look how happy he is. I can't wait to see/hear how excited he gets on Christmas. Kids are the best. They make everyday so fun, and the holidays magical! It's really a blessing to have them in our life.

That is a really fun idea. If I ever get my holiday shopping out of the way early like you do, I might have to try it at my house.
