un skipping

Lest my children think it never happened, we did manage a lovely bit of Easterness this year.  Sir O is just getting to an age where he fully enjoys celebrating everything that can be celebrated.  He is, after all, related to his mother.  Or at least the non-puke-faced version of his mother.

And so on Saturday, the boys insisted on having an Easter egg hunt.  Sir O had been having his own for a week, filling eggs with popcorn mostly, and hiding them around the yard.  I was not prepared enough with proper egg-fillings for a bona fide hunt, but we filled them with chocolate chips and pennies, and other than the eggs that got too much sun and wound up filled with melted chocolate, it was exactly what Sir O had hoped for.

Mr Renn then organized the requisite egg-dying.  Quite naturally he was away at work when the boys decided to EAT those eggs and made a large and smelly mess smeared all over the kitchen a few days later.

I had been too preoccupied to prepare proper Easter clothes for everyone - I made a last-ditch run to target and TJmaxx and this is what we wound up with.  (the photo was taken after church and Sir O had already changed, we made him put the shirt back on and the moment we were done it was off again - he did have a tie and not a yellow t-shirt underneath for church.  My boys really hate ties.) Next year, I tell you, I will not drop that ball.

Because we had early church the boys were supposed to wait until after church to look for their baskets, but Sir O proved incapable of waiting, and found almost everybody's while I was in the shower.  Next year  we'll probably cave to the trend of doing baskets on Saturday.  It may be the only way we get to actually SEE the kids when they find them.

Then we gathered with family at my Grandma's house.  My kids love love love it there.  They get gobs of attention, treats, and praise.  Plus on this trip Sir O came home one model train richer.  You cannot fathom his bliss.
