Hodge Podge

A few things I've been meaning to mention.

I feel bad if anyone felt excluded by my low-altitude cookie recipe, so I've dug up my Aunt Linda's award winning recipe.... worked fabulously in Utah... so all you high altituders can stop feeling bad.
Okay, so the award was for "best cookie-maker" at a family reunion. But still, they are good, and WAY easy!

Linda's Double Chocolate Cake-Cookies

1 Box chocolate cake mix
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 C butter
2 Eggs
1 cup oatmeal
1 Bag chocolate chips

Um, pretty much mix it all together... then roll your scoops of dough in granulated sugar before placing on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
And despite the oatmeal in the recipe, these are not oatmeal cookies. Most people never guess that there is oatmeal in them. VERY GOOD STUFF.

Um, also... wanted to tell you about a pretty darn fascinating read I have stumbled upon: Why We Buy; The science of shopping. Muy interesante. I'm continually finding myself reading bits of it to Mr Renn, and it captures his interest as well. Anybody who ever intends to enter a store could benefit from reading it, although it would also be invaluable to anyone trying to run a business. So many "aha - that makes sense, duh!" moments, and for being a potentially-dry social-science-type book, it really holds the interest of the reader (myself at least) remarkably well. Not a single dry-textbook compulsory moment.

Anyhow, if any of you were hurting for something to read....

I've heard lots of people talk about that book. I think I will have to talk the company into purchasing one for us! And thanks for the cookie recipe. Sounds like it would be a chocolate-lovers delight. I'll have to make it for the hubby.

Mmm, that recipe looks "muy excelante!" Thank you for being one of those "uber-nice people" and remembering to INCLUDE the high altitude people, ie. me.
I really love using a cake mix to make cookies, I can't wait to try it! (I especially love oatmeal in my cookies!)
