Full Speed Ahead

I've been keeping busy making invitations to Oliver's 1st birthday party. While there will not be any inflatable kiddie pens, I do hope it will be a good time. If any of you will be in Utah around the middle of July and would like an invite, please let me know.

I've been debating whether or not I should share a little episode from last night, because frankly it's pretty gross. But also funny, and probably worth remembering (for me) in the long run. (Consider yourself warned)

Last night at dinner, shortly after I mentioned to Mr Renn that Sir Oliver hadn't managed to defecate all day (which is very much unlike him), Sir O started making bright red grunting faces. He'd been doing that off and on all afternoon, and I had attributed it to constipation..... such is the lot of a parent to have one's mind occupied with such things.

Suddenly we hear a funny noise.

Sir O was emptying his bowels with such force that his little bum became a fountain of poop. In an instant there was a little poopy river accumulating in a largish poopy puddle on the floor.

The really funny part is how Mr Renn and I just gaped and stared at each other like "What do we do? I don't know what to do?!" A roll of paper-towel and a load of laundry later, the situation was under control. The learning curve for this parenting thing can be fierce!

It's amazing how having a kid makes things that used to be embarrassing to talk about a common topic of conversation.

We would love to come to Sir O's party. I am fairly certain we will be in town.
Don't you just love those moments when you have no clue how you are going to clean it up. Those are cherised memories of hysterical laughter around our house.

I think if we got all of our friends with children together we could compose a book of funny baby poo-poo stories. You gotta love parenthood!

I hope you enjoy Utah when you get here!
