Tagged - 8 things about my marriage.

Tagged by Tracy, one of very few people for whom I'd do a meme of late.
And it goes like this:

  1. Where did you meet your husband? - Hmmm. We sort of missed each other. My parents moved just down the street from his right after he left for 2 years in Mexico on an LDS mission. Then I left for college before he got back. I'd see him in church on weekends when I visited my parents, I guess. 3 years later my Dad dared him to ask me on a date.
  2. What was the first thing you said to him? - Probably something like "I'm so embarrased, sorry" - I was home for Christmas and both of our families were taking a turn cleaning the church. My dad probably thought he was taking Renn aside privately to tease him and ask "So when are you going to take my daughter out...." Only really he asked him in front of a whole bunch of people, including me. Very embarrassing. On the bright side, after that Renn felt like he had to ask me out, and look what happened.
  3. Where was your first date?/Kiss? - Our first and second dates were disasters. Renn had already told my little brother he'd take him bowling, and I was sort of invited along for the ride. But before that date came into fruition, he invited me to see The Two Towers because he'd somehow scored free tickets. It was like an 11am showing, and he took me home right after because he had to work. Don't think we spoke more than 10 words to each other. Then the bowling date came and somehow ALL of my siblings decided they were invited (and some of their friends to boot). It was a zoo. But he did ask me out again after that, I was surprised. (First kiss was about 5 months later outside my apartment in Provo. Renn hated making the drive to Provo, and he made sure I knew it every single time he came to see me. {I was carless} We had a couple months of contention before any kissing could happen)
  4. Did you have a long or short courtship? - Well, if you subtract the months where I was upset with him, it was really pretty short. We dated for 10 months, were engaged for 3.
  5. Where did you get engaged? - Ah, unlike HSF, I did not have the foresight to specify that I did not want to look like a drowned rat when I got engaged. Mr Renn proposed to me in front of the Bountiful LDS temple after we'd done some family baptisms. I was wet and chlorine-y. And I was secretly being video-taped. Very unfair.
  6. Where did you get married? Also in the Bountiful LDS temple. Renn is very attached to it. He spent a lot of time there volunteering as a dishwasher.
  7. How did your reception go? Really pretty well, other than the part where Renn got very irritable about both our cars being decorated, pulled out a knife and detached the tin-cans before we even exited the parking lot. Kind of put a damper on the celebratoriness. I still bug him about how ornery he was. I suppose he was nervous, a little edgy?
  8. How was the honeymoon? Well, just fine thanks. We stayed in SLC, trying to be budget conscious. I should have seen it as a sign of things to come. Mr Renn, to put it politely, is VERY budget conscious. But we did get to stay in some awesome bed and breakfasts in the Avenues. And found some awesome little restaurants.

Aw, that was cute! I enjoyed it! Oh, and don't worry about bringing dishes. We're alright, just not a lot of matching ones now.

Cute! I'm glad you got tagged! I was kind of the same way as Mr. Renn on my wedding day, a little tense...I didn't know how to handle all the extreme emotions very well.
