Sir O watches far too much TV. I guess it's an unfortunate side-effect of the tiny apartment + gross humid PA summer + no money + mom is too sick to do any proper mothering.
I tried to have a better day today. (As per my mothering, not necessarily per my hyperactive gag reflex). So I pulled out a bag of dried black beans and put them in a bowl on a jellyroll pan, handed Sir O a stack of silicone muffin liners, a spoon, and let him have at it.
I was pleasantly surprised how long they held his interest. I was unpleasantly surprised at how quickly he decided it would be funny to dump all the beans on the floor. But after a spot of reprimanding, and some clear consequences laid out (threats and bribes.... you know) He seemed pretty content to load handfuls of beans from one container to the other for over half an hour.
The morning also held some coloring, painting with water, and a lot of dancing. Then a royal meltdown at lunchtime and an early nap.
This is all worth it, right?

Cool! I am always looking for something new, rather than pulling out the same old toys, or having Conrad follow me around while I clean up what he's just pulled out.
Way to go, Em! Congratulations on an early nap. Except if he's like Conrad he'd just wake up earlier. :(
