personal space

My blog's been lacking for content in the midst of all there has been to do around here lately.  4 noses to wipe, one Captain to keep on the nebulizer, seeds to water and watch germinate, weddings to plan, logistics for a future job and home and preschool to worry about, and me in the middle of it all, not exactly rocking at being productive and staying on task.

But you love me anyway, right?  A little?

me - test

So I'm dipping into the realm of disclosure.  Things you may not have known, and were probably none the worse for it.  But, here you go anyway.

  • I went through a phase in High School where I was obsessed with craisins.  Until I figured out what they were doing to me.  Obsession crushed.
  • While nursing, I've been drinking a 32 oz powerade a day to stay hydrated.  There are worse things I could choose.
  • Mr Renn is extremely frustrated with my inability to clothe growing boys for free.  Also with my inability to stop buying cookbooks.
  • I just recently discovered this feature on the PYP website, and it's been revolutionary.
  • I get ridiculously giddy every time a seed germinates for me.
  • I've made 3 cakes from this book by Rose Levy Beranbaum, and think I may have to try every cake in the book.  So good.  (Also, so time intensive, my mom thinks I'm nuts)
  • I'd give up some minor body parts for a fenced in back yard lately.
  • I've been procrastinating starting our gentleman on solids.  On the one hand, it'll be the magic button that stops the relentless flow of baby vomit.  On the other hand, oh how I disdain spoon feeding! (especially the first few months of it, such a long, drawn out battle)
  • My unwillingness to run errands that involve leaving the car with all 3 kids has stunted most of my project-minded ideas.  Especially regarding stores that either don't have carts, or whose carts can only conceivably hold 2 kids.  And if there's anything breakable in the store on top of that..... no chance.
  • I think we've about used up a costco-sized pack of kleenex in the past 3 weeks.
  • We've managed without any network TV for almost a year now, and we've been seeing movies in the theater about once a year..  We are a netflix family around these parts.
  • I'm really excited about the contents of this year's Easter baskets.
  • My kids will play "I spy" and Cariboo Island for hours at a time.  Too bad I can't play for more than 20 minutes without losing my mind.
  • Sir O has just ended a phase of saying "okee dokee artichokee" instead of "yes".  I'm surprised to find I miss it.
  • I've had the odd sensation the last few weeks that time is flying by in double time.  Lunchtime especially seems to sneak up on me.  Lunch, I tell you, is my nemesis.
  • I'm beyond frustrated lately that you have to fight for happiness and fun and enthusiasm in a world that seems determined to depress everyone up to their eyeballs.  Is it just me?

I love you Em! And I remember your craisin obsession! Good times, good times. We too are in the process of watching little seedlings sprout. You've always said it's great therapy, and that is so true! Caleb is so meticulous about his watering and praying for his little seeds. Here's wishing that you get well soon! Oh, and stunning picture of you. That camera of yours is treating you well!

I love, and miss!, you dearly!
Loved your thoughts, pretty much how I think most of the time.

I did not feed Clara solids until she insisted at 8 months. It was MUCH easier than feeding a 6month old.

Love seeing you use the new camera. You will love it. I have so much to learn about mine is well. .....and send me your netflix list!

Oh I am right there with you on so many of those points. Especially the lunchtime business. Why can't kids go from breakfast to dinner, it would make life so much easier.

I've been working on Barenbaum's Bread bible with some success, but I find her meticulousness can be frustrating for a scoop and dump baker like myself. Still, she knows what she's doing and my attempts have been mostly successful. Your Hummingbird cake was lovely. Was that one of hers?

@carolanne... no the hummingbird cake wasn't hers.... but now that you mention it that sounds really yummy!

I love the list. Also, your photo is lovely.

I'm totally digging the cookbook you're letting me borrow. It makes me itchy to make something.

No, it's not you. It's just the end of a very long winter. Spring is coming!
