So my parents have some neighbors who aspire to be country farmers. Their most recent venture is owning chickens. Up until now the worst part of this has been lots of noise during the day, but this morning, around 4am, a rooster had a death wish.
I woke up to the first "Cock-a-doodle-doo" and then tried to doze off in between "Cock-a-doodle-doo's" that proceeded to ring out every 45 seconds or so for the next 2 1/2 hours. I seriously contemplated some cruel and unusual things. I think pregnant ladies who have been deprived of sleep by roosters generally contemplate crual and unusual things.... like ways to cook chickens.

chicken and dumplings, chicken casserole, flinders fried chicken.... those are hardly cruel or unusual. trying to raise poultry in a residential environment--that's unusual.
